Oak Hills turned into House of Payne

CINCINNATI – For one night, the gym at Oak Hills High School was the House of Payne as in Allen Payne. The Winton Woods star and Auburn signee scored 18 of his game-high 26 points for the West in the second half on an array of moves.

But it was Withrow’s Ricardo Maxwell who sent the East to a 96-93 victory in the     Cincinnati 2010 SWOBCA District 16 All-Star game. He scored eight points in the final five deciding minutes of the game. He finished with 15 points.

Payne and former Winton Woods teammate Dominique Brown combined for 12 points in the first five minutes of the third quarter to help the West on its quest to fight back from a 14-point halftime deficit. By the time they ended their run following the first five minutes of the fourth quarter, the game was tied at 85.

Each team employed five-minute rotations for equal playing time.

The contingent from Winton Woods that included Nate Mason, Payne and Brown combined for 46 of the team’s 93 points.

Anderson’s Michael Wilkison got the East going in the second quarter with 14 of 21 points. The offensive explosion enabled the East to open up a 14-point lead at the half.

Darrien Wilkins (Princeton) added 14 points for the East.
