For one last time as high school seniors, Kevin and Cameron
Mitchell played a game for their father, Taft High School coach Mark, in the Division II-VI game.
At a pace similar to what the Senators played during the regular
season, the Mitchell-powered West squad racked up 122 points.
However, Louis Schaljo (Bethel-Tate) and Landyn Williams
(Shroder) were too much to handle in the defensively-challenged contest as the
East was victorious 128-122. The duo combined for 56 points in the
victory.
The West looked to be well on its way to victory as its transition offense was running efficiently with the Mitchell twins
running the break and the duo of Jorian Hudson and Todd Watkins usually on the
finishing end. That was unless Kevin was going coast to coast for the
completion.
West’s quintet of Cameron, Kevin, Watkins, Hudson and
Frankie Young poured in more than 100 of the team’s points.
However, the East had another trick up its sleeve.
“Coach kinda stacked that second lineup,” said Schaljo. “So
we knew we were going to make a little run.”
